Today I want to share a project I created for Canvas Corp Brands.
I used the 6x6 canvas stitched book, and had so much fun just creating!
That's what I love about Canvas Corp, the products really promote creative play and they are just so easy and inspiring to work with!
So here is the front cover of the book...
I chose to go grungy with this it.
I love all of the frayed string from the outside of the stitching on the album so I didn't worry about trimming it down, but if you like a more clean look you can just trim it and/or even add a little mod lodge or gel medium to the edges to prevent it.
For the "Pocket" I used a canvas Circle shape. You can find it here. I misted the circle and then stamped "create" with the 7 Gypsies alpha stamps, then I cut an end off and glued my paintbrushes inside the pocket.
If you look closely you can see where I also used the alpha stamps in the background...
Here, I used the canvas fringe on the binding of the book and added some eyelets.
I decided that I didn't want any rules with this book. I was just going to create and have fun!
So each page is different and doesn't necessarily match the next...
For now I just created the backgrounds on the pages, but will add to them over time...
I love using the high impact paints and then misting them with water to give a water color effect. That's what I did with the pink circles here.
As you can see, I didn't prime the pages with gesso...instead I used the gesso to add the details.
What I was amazed with was that the mists didn't leak through to the other pages???
I really thought that since I didn't prime the pages, I would have splotches on each page from the previous ones...but no color bled through!
Except for the tiniest bit on this page that came through the stitches.
I really liked the look and thought about going around the stitches a little more to see if I could create a border, but I chickened out! ;)
Not sure I like the splotchy paintwork I did on the top picture, but that's what I love about this book...no worries...I can just paint over it and try something new!!!
This is a close up shot of the back cover page. The back page is the only page that was fully primed, and you can still see all of the texture from the canvas.

I should have actually made a list because I'm pretty sure I've forgotten some... :)
Don't forget to stop by the new Canvas Corp Brands website and shop around!
