Hi!
Here is another layout of my husband and I this time, on our wedding day.
This was a pic taken with one of the disposable camera's that we had on our tables at the wedding reception.  We were getting our picture taken so much that Steve really started hamming it up for the camera's.

The background was created by using the heart punchinella as a stencil with some modeling paste.

The flowers are made from fabric softener sheets(inspired by Gabriella).
...and that gorgeous lace is another Gauche Alchemy must have!
(I'm telling ya...the lace variety pack is AMAZING!!!)

All of the hearts on this layout are part of the patchwork heart set.
For the wordlet, I applied gesso and perfect pearls for shimmer.  As for the hearts, I misted then added gesso and crackle accents.  I really love this wordlet and the hearts!

Well that's it for now!

Make sure you join us for the big ScrapFx blog hop!

Scrap Fx will be giving away a huge prize pack to 1 lucky winner...and I will have a fairly decent giveaway as well!

So stay tuned...

As always, thank you so much for stopping by!

Have a great week!

Truly, Madly, Deeply-

Ooops, I thought I had this layout scheduled, but apparently I didn't!

This layout that I did of my husband and I for Gauche Alchemy is my favorite layout I've made this month!
I love the metal mixed with the romantic lace, and the texture of the ouchless cardboard.  this is my husband and I at a welcome home event for our soldiers.
photo taken by: Janean Deplanty

I really love this flourish and the "truly, madly, deeply" wordlet from Scrap Fx, for both of these pieces I used mists and pearl pens that you can find here.

It wasn't my first plan, but I really like the way pleating the yellow punchinella looks on this page!

I love the texture the ouchless cardboard gave to the page! I've mentioned it before but Gauche has the most amazing lace variety pack ever! So many gorgeous patterns and colors. This started out as a pale pink color but I misted it to go with the layout more.
....and don't you love this frame?  Another gorgeous piece from Scrap Fx  I think that the lace and chippys, add some romance to my otherwise grungy page!

Oh btw, if you haven't yet go put in your washi order over at Gauche.  Tons of variety and super duper cheap!
PLUS!! Free shipping in the U.S. and Canada...and....
Only $2.50 for everyone else!

That's it for today! I will be back soon...

Thanks for looking and hope you are having a great weekend!

we'll miss you blue! A project and a tribute...

So today's post is more than just an opportunity to share a project with you. Its a moment for me to honor a good and faithful fish, that swam by our family's side for 3 years!

Seriously, I never expected for this fish to live 3 years.  I would forget to feed him most days and he still kept swimming?!  That is...until the day I decided to give him a new home.

I had been searching pinterest a couple of months ago and came up with the cutest candy dish idea in the form of a gumball machine and fell in love!  Its like the easiest, but most brilliant idea ever!

The original idea is from the Oh Crafts blog, courtesy of Kara Allen.

When I saw this, I thought of how cool it would be to "Gauche" it out and turn it into a fishbowl.

So that's what I did!

You can see full product details here.

Cute right?

I really thought ol' blue would love his new home
Guess what?
He didn't!!!

I later found out that I messed up because apparently you are supposed to wash the pebbles that go in the bottom of the bowl?!
If the pebbles are made for the fish tanks why wouldn't they make them ready to use?
I got some crap for not reading the directions but who would think it was necessary?
Decorative rocks go in bottom of bowl...seems simple to me!

So there it is, a cute fishbowl but no fish to swim in it. :(
I ended up giving it to my sister...hopefully she has better luck! lol

Go check out Gauche Alchemy to see the cute cartoon alchemist Jenn "scraps" made for me in memory of Ol' Blue!  She is a very talented cartoon artist!

I will be sharing another bubble gum machine that I made for want2scrap next weekend...this time an actual candy dish but glammed up with lots of w2s bling!

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you have a fantastic and blessed weekend and that your fish are kept warm and snuggly in their tanks!

Let me know if you try your own diy bubble gum machine, I would love to check it out! (just link up below)

"Love of my life"

Hi all,
Time for a new Scrap FX layout!  Have I told you how much I love Scrap FX?!?
Ok, I know you are very aware of that fact already... lol
I just can't get over the variety!!!  I mean, I have gone through the website over and over and every single time I see something new that just pops out at me and scream "PLAY WITH ME" ?!!
I am just so amazed!
So with that said...
If you haven't yet, head over to the Scrap Fx website and check out the huge variety of chipboard embellishments that they have!  They literally have a wordlet for just about any occasion you can dream up.  If you haven't used wordlets before, its an entire title in just one piece and the designs are so beautiful and creative! Its adds a lot of personality to every project!

Do you like the background?  It was made by using a variety of Gauche Alchemy Punchinella's...Gauche Alchemy and Scrapfx....who could ask for anything more?!?

I'm horrible with coming up with titles! One more reason for me to LOOOOOVE the Scrapfx wordlets...
I had also been hoarding this hinge for a while now not wanting to use it on just any project.  I thought this page needed a little something more and I thought the hinge was perfect!

This time I used the simple rectangle frames and instead of stacking them I decided to separate them (sort of) and add 2 different pics of my parents.

Well I hope I've inspired you to go get some Scrapfx goodies!

I know they are harder to find here in the U.S., but I can help by directing you to a couple of stores that I know have them here in the U.S. :

Punky Scraps (GET PICKY)

Its that time again!  This weeks challenge at punky scraps is the get picky.  Where team B chooses a list of items for us to use on our layouts.  Its only required to use three to qualify for the challenge but I always try to use them all.  TRY...this time I didn't do so well!

Here is the list:

Amy - Anything brown
Nat - use 5 different patterned papers
Elin - use splashes of paint
Mandy - 5 lines of journaling
Cheryl - Tulle/Mesh/Burlap
Sara - Butterflies
Kim - Denim

5 lines of journaling, and 1 butterfly (unless you count the one underneath), and denim leaves for the flowers...which are made of different pattern papers, but when I misted them you can't tell.

Here you can see the denim strip, Gauche Alchemy punchinella for the "mesh", and here you can kind of see the different pattern papers on the flower (which had brown in them, Sorry AMY!)

So there ya go! Come play along with us at punky scraps! This challenge is my favorite challenge of the month and I'm sure you'll love it too.

PS...I'm slackin again on comments but will be getting to you all soon!

Thanks for looking and I hope you have a fantastic and blessed weekend!

My first Mini with-Gauche Alchemy

Happy Hump Day friends!
Here to share with you a mini I made for Gauche Alchemy.

This was the first mini I have done and I will tell you that it scared the cri-zap outta me!  I don't know what it is about trying something new, fear always gets the best of me at first.  I know that people say this of cards and mini's...they are just a scrapbook page but smaller.  I get that but the smaller part is what scares me.  Do you scale everything to size, or just use the pic embellies still and go with it?  I got this kit and instead of being totally excited about it (because this kit is awesome and full of the best vintage ephemera around!), I was terrified! I literally looked at it every day for a week paralyzed (I'm such a drama queen sometimes), wondering what the heck I was going to do with this small, rectangular book.

Finally, I just decided to take Nikes motto and "JUST. DO. IT"
So with some encouragement from my gauche family, I finally started to put something together! In the end, I decided I kind of liked it!

I definitely see more mini's in my near future...

So here is my mini using the "SHOW STOPPERS KIT" from Gauche Alchemy, featuring my baby faced grandparents.

My grandma is the one who actually gave me idea for the marquee.  There is a piece below that I was stumped on and she suggested making him part of a marquee.  I still didn't see it, but I thought that was a brilliant idea for the cover. To make my marquee I used flashlight bulbs and punched out holes with my big bite

The "butts" of the bulbs created a bit of a challenge for me so I decided to cover them with a picture frame, envelope and then I made a banner full of Tim Holtz charms (and an interesting little metal piece from the kit).
Her is the smoker that inspired the marquee for the cover...

My beautiful grandma!

Here is the page that points to the page above...so didn't notice my poor bead was falling off when I took this pic
This is a copy of an actual postcard my grandpa sent to my grandma while they were engaged and he was away in the airforce (full story on the gauche blog)
They were a very happy couple til the day he died! He was the love of her life and they have a love that will last through eternity.

Ok, so enough of the cheezy...

I hope this mini, inspires you to go get a show stoppers kit for yourself and see what you can do!

the kit also comes with a project sheet of details that I used to make my mini

Punky Scraps #47 (scrap Fx)

Hi, there, this is a layout that I did for the sketch challenge over at punky scraps.  The sketch was gorgeous and I really wanted to stick to it as close as possible.  When I saw the butterflies with the paint drips, I instantly thought new beginning.  I knew at that point that my sister would be the subject of the layout.  Do you remember my playground page?  Well it was about my sister and how I had to start looking away because it hurt so much to see the destructive path she was on.  It wasn't because she was a bad person or anything like that, but she was living her life out of a place of pain and was being tormented by it.  I don't know exactly what happened but over the last year she has just made some drastic changes in her life, and she has been amazing me with the steps she has taken.  Its like she is a new, strong, and confident version of her old self!  I just love this girl to pieces and am so proud of her!
I used a beautiful wordlet from Scrapfx and the crafters workshop's "mariposa" template

Thanks for taking the time to stop by my blog! I hope your having a great start to the week!

Fierce

TGIF!
I'm adding a lot of post all at once here. Just wanted to take a minute to share a canvas I made as DT work for Gauche Alchemy.  I had a lot of fun playing with the flames template from
The Crafters Workshop on this one.

the background is a collage of book and magazine pages from the Acme kit

To make the heart, I used a fabric panel from the gauche alchemy scarlet fever mixed media color kit. Then I ripped parts of it and then added crackle accents and gesso.

Go check out the gauche alchemy store...they have so many awesome vintage goodies that will totally inspire you to play!
As always, thank you so much for looking!

My first Scrap Fx Design Team layout

I can't believe that I haven't blogged this already.  My mind hasn't been very focused lately.  I've been trying to create more and spend less time on the Internet because it has a tendency to consume me some days...

My poor mojo has been disappearing like crazy on me and I thought I finally got it back with this page (unfortunately, after this it went away again. lol)

This layout is absolutely inspired by Heidi Kelly (several of her layouts mixed into one).  Her work amazes me, and something just clicked with me while drooling through her gallery the other day...B&W pics surrounded by a vibrant mix of colors makes a huge impact...and I love how she fussy cuts pictures!  Here I've been taking close up pics so that they are "scrappable" and it was totally not necessary, because fussy cutting the pics in black and white just adds to the artsy fartsy look! So thank you miss Heidi for being so innovative and totally awesome! ( I would pee my pants if I thought that she has even stumbled onto my blog, btw)
the ouchless cardboard from gauche alchemy was actually a pleasant mistake.  I'd saturated the paper so much that that side started to rip off so I just tucked the cardboard under it and voila!
I love this frame! It come with both pieces separately, which makes it even easier to alter it...or you could even use them separately and have two frames.  Also seen here you will find the gothic key and Chicken wire in the background. The flowers are a mixture of zva and petaloo flowers that you can find at the STTG store.
How can you not love this banner?  You should go check out the Scrap Fx blog and see how Rachelle dressed her's up...it is very cute!

....and her is the door.  I just love doors for some reason?  I'm very please with how this turned out, and will have a tutorial soon on the Scrap Fx blog.

This layout was so much fun to make and I just want to say thank you for stopping by!
Hope your having a great weekend!

Punky Scraps #46

Hi, You may not believe this...but I've actually been a creating fool lately!  Unfortunately, I'm not able to share much yet...and I'm wondering if I am going to be able to share two of my projects at all? :(
Soooo, here is something I can share!

Its the first challenge of the month for Punky Scraps.

I really wanted to give quilling a go...but I ran out of time!

So instead I decided to go with the bright colors as my theme...
The fun title letters and funky flourish are awesome chipboard embellishments from Scrap FX

To create the background I used gesso, the homemade mists you can find here, and gel medium over the daisy cluster template from The Crafters Workshop.

The flowers are Petaloo flowers that you can purchase at the STTG store.

So that's it for today!

How does the inspirational image hit you?  Do you picture quilling, or doing something with office supplies...or playing with color???

Come play along with us and link up here!
