My first DT layout Gauche Alchemy

Hi, for the first time every my blog is kind of hopping with projects!  Today I'm very excited to be able to reveal my first layout as an alchemist!  Most of the time when I am finished with a page, I look at it with some disappointment.  I always have something in my head but the end result doesn't usually look like what I had planned.  With this page I didn't really have a picture in mind, I just knew I had to play with some of the many different punchinella's in my dt kit...to see what kind of textures I could get!!!
I really LOVE the end result!  This is probably only the 4th time I've been able to say the "L" word for one of my projects.  So here it is:
Everything on here is Gauche Alchemy except for the mists...I even used some of the craft paper from some of the packaging and covered cardstock as my first layer of texture.

Ahhh...don't you love the texture the punchinella made?  I know my crazy texture isn't for everyone, but I do love it.  Then check out that page behind the photo...its actually a braille bible page from the Acme kit?!  How awesome is that?!  I misted it and added some gold glitter paint.  You can't see it in the pic, but that page really glimmers!

Sorry for the quality of the pic on the layout....It was pretty blurry to start with but I loved it and wanted to use it anyway.

Here you can see the lace and ouchless cardboard.  I coffee stained the lace and added some of that glitter paint mentioned earlier on the cardboard.  I was so psyched to have this cardboard because I've used a lot in the past but have always had to do some work just to reveal the corrugated part...so it was nice to have this ouchless cardboard ready to use!

I made these flowers from music note paper from the Acme kit, and the little white leaf is from the wedding night mixed media color kit.

So there you have it! My first page as a new Alchemist!  If you haven't yet, please hop over to the Gauche Alchemy blog, and check out the Maggi's great write up on it!  Plus, you can read the funny story of how my grandma and grandpa ended up on their first date...its interesting.

Thanks for looking, and have a great week!

STTG#1 Thankful

Hi everyone! I'm here to show you my first project as a new STTG dt memeber...and for the very first challenge over at the new ning site!  Our first challenge is an easy one!  For a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the store, the only thing you have to do is use the word(s) Thankfull, or Thank you!  Its that easy!  So come share a new card, layout, or maybe something altered for a chance to win!

I could make a billion projects for this challenge if I had the time!  I feel like God has blessed me by surrounding me with wonderful people...and at the top of that list are those who created me...my mom and dad! My dad actually wasn't there for the creation part...they joke that when I was born he was probably taking some exam during his senior year at high school! lol  He adopted my sister and I, but we have never considered him or the extended family he blessed us with, as anything but blood!
They have been wonderful role models, and are always there for me when I need them, or even when I don't...they always come through in some special way!  This is something I made to let them know that I appreciate them, but is also something for them to have to remind them of how much they appreciate each other as well.

The branch and some of the title letters are Scrapfx (had to mix match alphas because I was running out).

Here I used another flourish from scrapfx, and in the center I used some fancy stickers from studio calico as a mask. Thanks goes out to Kat...because I won those stickers in a rak from her!

So that is it for now! Thank you so much for stopping by and for your constant support!  I am also very "Thankful" for all of you! (I know I sound like a cornball, but its true!)

Punky Scraps #42 "Get PIcky"

That's right! Time for my favorite challenge of the month!  I love this challenge because it truly is challenging to use everything on the list.  This month wasn't any different!  These girls about killed me with all of the shapes on this one!  So here is your list:

Michelle - hexagons
Cheryl C – white paint
Kim - make a grid
Sara - use small photos
Nat - no pink
Mandy - use three circles
Elin -use three squares
maxell - use something transparent

So there you have it, shapes galore!  Now my pics aren't as small as some of the other dt...but for me they are smaller than I usually use.  This was only the second time I have ever made a layout without a pic in mind...so as I was going through all of my pics I came across my girl Cassie's photo session and her shirts matched the colors perfectly!  She was also in my punky scraps#40 so this must have been a Cassie month!
At the bottom of the page you can find the 3 squares with a grid texture in them (courtesy of a Gauche alchemy punchinella).  I thought I took a close up, but didn't find it in my files???

This picture shows the 3 circles at the top with more gauche punchinella used for texture.

Here's one of the 2 hexagons and a close up of the Scrapfx title letters and angel wings

And here we have a horrible pic of my transparent heart mixed in with some petaloo flowers that I misted.  I used a Scrapfx flourish and applied  pearls with a viva decor pearl pen...I LOVE this thing!!!  I have tried to use perfect pearls before but I do not have a steady hand at all and I usually can't  get them round to save my life!  This thing is fool proof...even if it starts off with a point at the top...it eventually settles down into a perfect circle!  Seriously, my son was shaking me while I was applying these things and they still look like pearls!  Its my new favorite thing!

You can find the petaloo flowers and pearl pen at the STTG store...plus, if you go visit the ning site you can join an easy peasy challenge there for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate!

This months challenge there is to use the words Thank you, or thankful in a project of your choice!  So whatcha waiting for????  Come play with us!

Thanks for looking, and God Bless!

Punky Scraps #41 Mustache sketch anyone????

Its been a busy couple of days so I once again am late posting my latest punky scraps layout!  This challenge is a sketch challenge.  Nat had me crackin up with this sketch, so I decided to go totally silly with it!  Here is the sketch:

I stole a pic from the hubby's facebook of him goofing around with a fake mustache...edited the background to make it look even more like a mug shot.
I saw this ridiculous quote ("guns don't kill people, people with mustaches do") on a bumper sticker one day and my niece and I started rolling because of its randomness!  Funny thing is that when I went to search for the quote online to find out where on earth it came from, I found certain forums debating it!  I'm sure that the original people who started the threads did it as a joke, but there were seriously people debating the issue??? lol

The hairy mustache embellishments are Jolee...and the awesome  punchinella is from Gauche Alchemy!

So thats it...my goofy response to a funny sketch!

Thanks for looking and come get your mo-stache on at punky scraps!

Punky Scraps#40 (confident)

Hi all, Thank you for the kind comments regarding my new d.t. spot with Gauche Alchemy.  I appreciate my scrap friends so much!

Well, I am a day late posting my first Punky Scraps layout for this month.  Natalie has hooked us up with a great image to use as inspiration!

What really stood out to me was the different shapes and patterns.  I thought that I would attempt some doodling but when I tried it out it just looked really harsh, and  pathetic!  So, while strolling through pinterest I found a tutorial on making a homemade stamp using a Styrofoam plate.  You can see the tutorial here. I thought it was a perfect way to get the doodled effect softened a bit.

.

This looks fairly simple, but it all started with white card stock and then I added layers of paint, ink, and some tissue paper.  The brick wall (I cut it up a bit to blend into the background), title letters, and flowers are all Scrapfx (I'm obsessed with these chippy's). I used some pink and blue inks and added some perfect pearls to give it a metallic look.

Well, that's it for now! I probably won't be posting for another week.  I'm trying to get ahead on my dt projects for punky scraps and Gauche Alchemy...and getting my application together for the Scrapfx DT call (I'm hoping and praying).

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have a great weekend and an even better week!
