It feels like its been forever since I last posted and I am still behind on blog loving! Finishing that up tonight!
I'm here to share with you a journal I made for my son. He has just amazed me with his love for learning. I was really good about teaching him when he was really little but then slacked off after having my daughter, so it was such a surprise when several months ago I noticed him recognizing big words and reading street signs. I thought maybe it was just a fluke...that maybe he'd just been told what those things read and memorized them. So I decided to test him out with some sight word cards and my jaw dropped when there were only about 3 words that he didn't know.
HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?
Unfortunately, he doesn't trust himself with actual spelling of the words so I made him a journal to document his thoughts and also get him in the practice of spelling those words he knows nd writing them out. As of now, he needs to work on writing in lower case because he tends to only write in capital letters. This journal seemed like a perfect way to do it!
|The washi was a perfect way to decorate the spine of the composition notebook.|
|From this picture you can get a closer look at the clear punchinella and the stars from the scarlet fever red and banana hammock yellow color kits...oh and the cape that was made with a piece of material from the pink parts mixed media kit. I misted it with red dylusions mist to match the rest of the notebook. The escape wordlet is part of a pack from Scrap Fx.|
Payton loved the door handle from one of my other journals so I thought I would add him one of his own from a little game peg I found in the scarlett mixed media color kit. I love all the interesting treasures you find in the mixed media color kits!
My son absolutely loved this, and couldn't stop looking at it. Now miss Liberty is requesting something for her. I don't think a journal is the way to go with her though, so I'm thinking...
I was thinking about a turning a mini into a story book for her but that may be a little ambitious?
Any ideas are welcome!!
