Hi all! I hope your having a great start to the weekend! I'm here to share with you a layout and card I made using the new line of Scrap Fx birthday Chippy's. This has been one of my favorite releases so far this year!
As I was surfing the web the other day I noticed a great sketch over at Once Upon A Sketch and it felt like an "AHA" moment when I noticed that this months theme was Birthday's!
So, I just knew I had to give it a try...
I stayed pretty close to the sketch. I was going to try to connect my candles as a fence but I was going on vacation and was in a hurry so I just left them as is...
This is my beautiful baby girl when she turned a year old. She and her brother were so sick that day and you can see it in her pretty little eyes and red cheeks! She was is one of those finger suckers. She used to have them in her mouth at all times. Now she at least saves it for when she's tired. Those fingers were a lifesaver when I was nursing her because before she found them (at about 2 months old), we were constantly sitting and nursing...and nursing...and nursing... So I didn't care about the bad habit that may be forming! lol
In this pic you can see the mini "1st birthday" wordlet and the candles that I mentioned earlier. Both were painted and covered in Martha Stewarts fine glitter,
I have been hoarding my cogs for a special project that I have in my head...yet to start the creative process, but I gave a couple of them up for this layout. I've used some prima flourishes and added a handmade flower that I created using old fabric softener sheets, inspired by Gabrielle.
And here is a close up of one of the awesome Polaroid frames, the beautiful flourish, and 3 mini tags that contain journaling.
The journaling mentions how sick she was but how her personality still showed through that day. She was full of smiles (although they sometimes looked a little funny because she was so groggy!). She is still such an amazing girl with a huge personality and such a sweet spirit about her. She's now 3 1/2 and while she is developing the 3 year old attitude she is still one of the sweetest girls I know!
You can also see in this pic the pvc punchinella matting the frame and the turquoise piece peeking out from the side of it.
To mimic the strips from the sketch I used a piece of pale blue lace from Gauche, and dyed it with some turquoise paint.
BTW! Did you know that you can now buy lace by the yard at Gauche's Artfire store? Go check it out!!!
Ok, now here is yet another attempt at a card. You all know how I struggle with cards. This will be my 3rd one that I've shared (although I've made 3 more that you will see in the future).
This was inspired by Michelle Hernandez. She is such a trendsetter and she was one of the first I saw using neon in her work...
For this card I've used the "Make a Wish" wordlet and a craft lace tag from Scrap FX.
Also I've used some hot pink punchinella and a little plastic star from the pink parts mixed media color kit.
Now, for the BIG and totally EXCITING news I have to share...
Scrap FX

IIIt sure doesn't look like you struggle with cards, that one is fab (I understand the 'Michelle' influence, she's the Queen of neon!).

Love your creations!!!! Your lo is so pretty and that card is a real eye-catcher! Tks. for playing along with us at OUAS!
Ooooohhhh...what a lovely scrapbook page and card! And I am SO excited by the ScrapFX stencils! I think I saw some of them at Scrapbook Expo and wanted to pick them up, but in the chaos on that day I wasn't able to find the booth again. The designs look like something I'd definitely use on my journal pages!
Your little girl is such a cutie!:-)
