"Freakshow Freda" sure to make ya giggle!

Jennifer a.k.a "scraps" challenged us to dress a doll using Gauche Alchemy items like punchinella, cardboard, washi, etc.
It was not a requirement to make your own doll, but I will let you in on a little secret...

I have crazy talented team members (some who make their own dolls even), and they intimidated the crap outta me with this project!  So, I thought if I purposely went crazy on my doll and gave her a makeover that looked like something out of  "Toy Story", I could at least get a laugh out of it!  I wanted more of a laughing with me, not laughing at me kind of outcome!

Here is a pic of one of the creepy looking dolls.

Here is my creepy looking doll!

Her body is made from a wine bottle. It made it nice and easy to make a frilly dress! I tore some arms off of an old barbie that my niece handed over.  Then, I was in search of a head.  Originally I had a plastic egg that I added clay over and sculpted a face.  It actually didn't look too bad, but I had no idea how to paint on the eyes to look realistic enough.

So my husband (I was excited that he cared enough to help with it) had the brilliant idea of adding a baby head.  So I went into my daughter's toy box full of baby dolls and picked out this little dollar store doll and popped her little head off and placed it on the bottle.

Ok, this is a little more offensive than I had planned! lol  When I was putting the doll together marbles seemed proportional?  Unfortunately, after clothes went over those puppies, Freda was looking comparable to Dolly Parton.

( I did have intentions on lacing up the vest, but I kept tearing the eyelets so I gave up! For the top I used some black lace washi, punchinella, and white ouchless cardboard.)

This is layers of white ouchless cardboard, the packing paper from a gauche kit, and a variety of punchinella.  The belt was made by running gold washi through a heart slide from Want2Scrap.

I used some metallic stamp pens to add some lipstick and eye shadow.

You can see her "snout" ring and gauge earrings from this angle.  Unfortunately, I struggled with getting the eyelet in the other ear and it landed right in the center of her ear.
 It looks very painful! ;)

I really should have used the little pebbles instead of marbles!

I'm not sure that I shouldn't have added some rub on tattoo's???  Oh well, an afterthought, maybe later!

I hope I made you laugh with this one! I know she gave me a few giggles!

Hope you have a great weekend!

You know, I wondered what her base was--a wine bottle was inspired! (And kinda gives me some ideas...)

I loved Freda and her freakishness!

Misty, you are amazing- and far too kind to me!! You should know that you are such an inspiring artist yourself- you create things that leave me baffled as to how you accomplished it!! You can create those backgrounds that I can only puzzle at- so don't sell yourself short!! I mean, just look at this project!! I never in my life would have dreamed up something so creative!!
I just think that you and I are so similar in that we're always looking for new ways to keep our work fresh and different and exciting- it's what makes us artists!! So keep doing what you're doing, which is inspiring and beautiful and so uniquely YOU!!
Thanks so much for your kindness,
xErin
