Scrapfx Guest Spot*DT call*

Hi there! Its been a while since my last post.  I could go into the why's but they would just be excuses, even if some of them are legit. 

Soooo....Instead I want to share some exciting news!  I am guest designing for Scrapfx this month!!! 

I love Scrapfx so you can only imagine how much of an honor this is for me! 

 I'm totally impressed with how durable their chippies are.  I tend to put them through some torture trying to figure out how I want them to look, and Scrapfx chippies stay strong through the entire altering process!  Definitely a quality product!

Now for some more good news! Scrapfx is having their first ever Design Team call!!! I don't know about you, but I think this sounds like a dream come true!! So, if your interested (and who wouldn't be) check out the deets here! 

This news totally inspired me to go play with my chippies.  I needed a birthday gift for a very special friend of mine so I decided to do a mixed media piece using the bird A flourish and the heart and soul wordlet.   Unfortunately, my husband unintentionally hid my memory card for my camera so I had to resort to using my phone...and these shots aren't really doing the canvas any justice, but since her birthday was Monday...I didn't have much of a choice in the matter.  So here goes...

For the Bird A flourish I painted it with gesso, then after letting it dry I dabbed more gesso on the tail feathers to add more texture.  Then I used some perfect pearl powders in blue and pink to add some color. 

I love this heart & soul chippie.  For this I primed it with gesso again, then I added purple to it with a water color pencil (because I have no purple ink) then added glossy accents.  Again, this looks so much better in real life. 

So that's it for today.  I have a journal that I made for my niece to share tomorrow. Thanks to Nathalie Kalbach's jumpstart this January.  I have decided to really dress the part of a real artist and create "something" every day...even if its horrible!!!!  So even though I won't be sharing everything, I'm hoping that means I will be posting more than once a week.  So that's the plan man! Lets see how it goes...  :)
