Punkyscraps challenge #20

Hellooo!  I am so excited because I was able to do one last layout before the end of the month.  I made other commitments and didn't think I was going to get to join in on any punkyscraps challenges this month...which bummed me out because I LOOOOVE their blog and they have such interesting challenges!

This particular one was a 5,4,3,2,1 challenge.

5 pictures (I struggle with multi pic layouts so this was a challenge)
4 Alphas
3 pattern papers
2 paints or mists (gesso, and some pink shimmerz)
1 stamp (moulin rouge from prima in brown and black)
Twist: to use blue somewhere (I used blue jeans inspired by a layout by Elin...go check out her work if your not familiar with her...AAAWWWESOOOOMME!!!)

These pics are of my other niece Lexi...both of them are in the corner (from different sides of the family of course!)

The border under the her name is actually part of a dusty attic border
Thanks for looking!  You guys are so amazing and supportive and I appreciate you so much!

You Do LOVE Me!!!

I came to post a new layout and decided to check out my stats since I haven't heard from anyone in a while...like for almost 2 months now!  Well apparently, I changed my comment settings unintentionally and have been set to moderate.  I was so bummed that no one was visiting me but now I know I am still loved!  I will be visiting everyone else's blogs again soon to give some love!

For now, I want to share a layout I created for the scraplift the person before you challenge at sb.com.
I lifted Bubblegirls "bible awards layout"  you can check it out here.

Instead of the flowery paper I used a flowery stencil from the crafters workshop and smeared some textured paste over it then misted with some glimmer mist.  In her posting on sb.com her 2 was crooked...she said she had made a mistake with it, but being someone who loves imperfection...or at least someone who doesn't do perfection well...I decided I wanted to use the number theme and make them all crooked.  So here it is:
Wanted to mention that the piece under the title is a Dusty attic tribal design (da0307)

This is one of my nieces named lexi...she tends to be very insecure and this layout is a tribute to how wonderful I really think she is!

The journaling reads:

You are beautiful...
you say how you don't like your eyes...but your eyes reflect all that is in your heart and they are so beautiful.
I love the way they twinkle when you you get excited.  Even when you're mad you there is just something so
beautiful about you.  You are gorgeous inside and out!
You are wise...
You make good grades and are a smart girl...but even more than that you are so wise for your age.
You are a leader not a follower, and you aren't one who is easily fooled and caused to stray.  You
will always be strong in your faith and beliefs, but you also know to respect others for theirs.
 you are so sweet...
You take a while to let people get close but when you love...you love hard and
with your whole heart.  You are a very sympathetic and empathetic heart.  You don't like to see
people in pain and will do whatever you can to make them feel better. You treat others will love and
respect and never turn friendship away!  Your just have a pure heart and I pray that never changes!

As always thanks for stopping by and I am so glad you haven't forgotten me!

Timeless Beauty

Hello friends!  I was up late last night trying to start...and finish a layout I did of my grandma.  This was for the Surprise Chippie Challenge at sb.com.  I altered the chippie a week ago but had no clue what I wanted to do with it.  I almost just wanted to leave it by itself because I was so happy with the outcome.  I wish I had taken a before pic so you could see it.  I put this chippie through it trying to acheive a look I liked.  I sharpied it...gesso'd it....painted more...embossed it...sanded it....painted some more....used water color pencils to define it...painted some more...and the crackled it!  You wouldn't believe how scared I was during the process though...it was so ugly in the middle stages.  Here is the finished product:

Isn't it a beautiful clock?  The hands on the clock are TH game spinners.  When I finally did come around to a title I originally wanted it to have something to do with "such a time as this", because of it being an alarm clock...but that is as far as the inspiration went (a future title I guess).  So I went with Timeless beauty because she is so beautiful!  I just love this woman.  She is such a sweet nurturing woman and my family is just so blessed to have her! In fact, I wouldn't be posting this now if she wasn't out watching my kids in the pool at the moment...  She is always there when we need her and even when we don't!
The flowers I got from hobby lobbys floral dept and gessoed, misted, and embossed over them in different areas.
I dusted off my cricut and desided to make some shapes to use as masks on the background.  I used tattered angels and shimmerz mists.  If you notice the corner I also used one of the cricut corner designs on the storybook cartridge and used modeling past to give it some texture.  NOTE: after taking the sheartworkshop I found out that modeling paste is the same thing as the past you use on dry wall.  I still had modeling paste so I used it but its $11 for a small can when you can get a huge tub of the other stuff for like $6...I will be converting!
I can't leave grunginess alone...those letters just seemed to bright just being painted so I added gold embossing...not sure that they stand out at all now!  Well thats all for now...Thanks for looking!  I love all of my scrappy friends out there and I appreciate your feedback!

A fathers day gift...

Hi all!  I am afraid to say that I have had very little time to scrap lately.  Summer with kids keeps me very busy.  I have commited myself to 3 projects this month so I will be posting again shortly.  The following was a gift for my husband for fathers day.  I have been taking the she art workshop (I procrastinated but am glad I finally did it)...and I really wanted to make a canvas in memory of my father in law who passed away a couple of months ago.

I didn't do the traditional faceless art because I really wanted a pic of my fil and my husband so I printed off a pic of each of them and used their actual faces.  I didn't have any pics of Steve and his dad on hand...especially when he was younger so this was my attempt at making my own.  I gave it a steampunk feel.  Its not perfect but I was up til 4:30 this morning trying to get it done.  It was fun making it!

I used texture past and the crafters workshop antiquities template and The heart is a Dusty Attic piece

The trinkets are Tim Holtz and a old Key my grandma found for me
The paper for my Fil's shirt is also Tim Holtz...he liked hawaiin shirts so I thought this worked perfectly!

As always, thank you so much for checking out my blog.  I really appreciate comments and support!
