Little Teapot

Hi!  I am finally done with my teapot layout!  Nothing like coming up with something last minute.  This teapot was given to us by 3tailscraft for featthers challenge over at sb.com   The challenge was to decorate it with flowers ( I had flower lace paper then smeared over texture paste...but you couldn't tell it was a flower pattern so I added a flower at the handle).  I decorated the pot before having any clue what I was going to do with it! BIG MISTAKE!  I think that is what caused me to take forever to come up with an idea...and there really wasn't any fixing it because I had already used textured paste and smothered it with mists and glossy accents.  Finally, I was talking to my mom about not knowing how to use the chipboard piece and we were bouncing back title ideas when she finally started singing the teapot song.  She joked about having a pic of my grandma because she's a little shorty holding a teapot pose!  I laughed but thought calling her stout was a bit of an insult...so we started thinking...and then it hit us!  My ex-brother in law has the cutest little boy short and stalky and full of personality...and it just so happens that they had recently had family pics done and there was a pic that would work perfectly!!!  So here it is...my grungy little teapot page:
(my printer is messed up so the photo copy is horrible)

The bg papers are Tim Holtz lost and found...the border stickers are 2 pieces from Crate papers toy box collection...and the tiny types are actually paper studio (the hobby lobby line)

Not your typical teapot page (since I think girly and classy when I think teapot), but I kind of like it!

Thanks for looking! Have a great and safe Memorial Weekend!

Thanks Goes out to all those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom!

Hi all!

Just wanted to share that my "Exposed"  layout is being featured on the crafters workshop blog!  I am so honored!

Punkyscraps challenge #17

Hi all! This is a quick layout I did for the challenge #17 at punkyscraps and the scraplift the person before you challenge at sb.com.

I lifted autumngolds "ipod".  See it here

This was our inspiration from punkyscraps

This is my son! He is such a goofball always trying to make us laugh.  He went and put on his sisters headband and stood in front of me while I was on the computer until I noticed him...then when I did he laughed hysterically...and had me crackin up too!  So I thought of this pic when I saw punkyscraps inspiration.  Sorry for the crummy pic...its rainy here and I couldn't get the layout to lay straight!

As always...Thanks for checkin out my page!

WARNING: Viewer discretion advised

Hi!  Its been a while since I have been on here.  I had gotten so busy last month that I have tried to take extra time this month to catch up with my work stuff, and getting back to actually paying attention to my kids! :)  I have hated putting scrapping to the back burner but it had to be done...I guess...I've been a bit pouty about it! Especially since finding punkyscraps...I am loving this challenge site and am so disappointed I may only get to enter for one of the monthly challenges there! :(

Anyway, I finally made the time today to do a page that has been on my heart forever...but it just hasn't been the right timing to do. When I tried to catch up on some pages I committed myself to at sb.com...I couldn't do it...all I could think about was doing this page that I had been thinking about for so long...so I broke down to do it (hoping that my other commitments will be easier to fill now)!

The title for my post today is due to the fact that this layout appears to be pretty dark in nature at first glance.  I assure you though, that the meaning behind the page is all about healing and freedom!

I will explain more of that  later...

First, I want to show you the awesome sketch from punkyscraps...I wanted to stay pretty true to the sketch but got a little too carried away with my doorway so had to veer a bit!

Ok, now for my take on the sketch (I'm really nervous about sharing...but here goes):
My explanation for this sketch will follow the pics...

Almost a year ago we found out some disturbing news that shook our family...and for a few moments caused us to crumble.  This man allowed his demons to get the best of him. Because of that, he viciously stole the innocence and livelihood from people he professed to care about!  At first, we allowed this news to break us and shake us to the core!  We realized that what had happened was devastating but the fact that he was finally "exposed" meant that his victims no longer had to hide in fear..which meant they could start the healing process!  That doesn't mean that there weren't and aren't times that we would still like to inflict pain on him...especially anytime we reflect on the past...but I also know that we wrestle not with flesh and blood but agains the powers of darkness...and it makes me wonder what has happened to him????  I have finally gotten to a place to forgive and pray for him...eventhough it wasn't easy!
I edited the photo to show the demon inside...being exposed!

I also am entering this into the darker side challenge at sb.com...Celina's twist this month was to use a poem so,  I used lyrics from Christina Perri's "Jar of hearts"...you can see the video here .  (thanks Ashley V. for the tip on the links)

Each heart stands for a heart that he temporarily stole from each one of his victims...  However, thanks to the revelation that was given to us and through the blood of Christ (hence all that red paint) we were given the keys to start healing these broken hearts!  See it isn't as gruesome as it looks at first glance...

I used texture paste along with the antiquities template I won courtesty of last months punky scraps sponsor crafters workshop . I am now addicted to crafters workshop and can't wait to get my hands on some more templates...My favorites so far are this one and the time travel one...but I have my eyes on a couple more that I just have to have!  Visit their website here to see all of these amazing stencils and templates...so many possibilities...

Thanks for looking!  I always appreciate your comments....

Question????

How do I remove myself from being a follower?  I'm not sure why I am following myself! lol

Oh and while I am at questions I should probably know the answers to....

How can I hide a link under a single word?  For instance, most of your blogs share links by saying
something like this:

"you can see her work here"...

and when you click on it you go to the website.  Just curious because I am techno challenged and have to link the old fashioned way...I'd like to get with the times though so your help is very much desired!

Hello!!!

Its been a while since I have been able to post.  I have been super busy helping my mom out and trying to spend more time with my kids in this awesome weather we were having!  Now its cool and rainy again so I'm in doors a little more...

As for my cousins album...I was unfortunately 4 pages short but since my 2 year old daughter and 8 year old niece made a page each I get to count only being 2 pages short!  Anyway, I was finishing them the morning before I took it to her...and I totally forgot to take pics of the layouts so I could post them.   So she is coming to a birthday party for my nephew today and I'm hoping to get pics of them then....although they won't be that great because there is no sunshine out today...but at least I will have something to share.

As for what I want to scrap right now...I have some ideas in my head but now have to get them out onto paper...but I'm going to be scrappin some real emotions out with them!  So stay tuned...

One more to share...for now!

So I have 4 days left and am only half done with my cousins album!  I still haven't printed some of the pics I needed so they aren't completely finished.  Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to get every page filled...I'm struggling to find enough time between work and family...and being there for my momma who is down in the back right now!  I think I will have most of the family accounted for in her "homesick" album...just naming it that right now because thats what its for...to give her a connection home while she is living in Germany!  She's a family girl so as excited as she is about this move...I think its also going to be hard to go.

The layout below was originally done with the color combos galore pallette#190 in mind.  I didn't have any taupe so I misted some brown and black sprays on tan paper trying to get the look of the color.  Not sure that I succeeded...its mainly just dirty looking...but I kind of like the dirty look anyway! :)

This is another stolen pic from her fb.  She had done a 60 day picture thingy and this is someone (at teacher, I think) who has really inspired her and she even mentions that she is the type of woman ashley would someday like to be "A happy little old lady that loves life and her God".   So I thought inspire was a fitting title for this page.

I lifted the idea of painting the moss from Crafty Sprinkles...although I really think blue would have been a little better because the green kind of made it look a little like easter grass!  Ya live ya learn....

Kind words

I have to take a minute to tell you about something that had happened to me last week.  I was going grocery shopping for more milk...because my kids are little cows when it comes to milk.  While I was there I surprised to run into a friend that my sister and I went to school with..that I hadn't seen in several years.  I think she was in a hurry but she still took a minute to overwhelm me with sweet words.  She wanted to let me know that she hadn't been able to follow my blog but has stopped by a couple times and was impressed (don't remember exact words of course) with my layouts but that I really need to not be so hard on myself because they are "over and beyond" (exact words...lol).  I was totally blown away!  Not just because she paid me a compliment, but really just because she took that extra time to express to me what she thought even though she seemed a bit rushed!  So thanks Mandy! You really made my day...

With that...I also came to the realization that when I'm sharing my layouts I'm too negative about most of them.  I guess its just self doubt beating me over the head again!  So from now on...and this is going to be hard for me...I will not having anything negative to say!  If the layout isn't exactly meeting my expectations, that's ok...I'm still learning and developing my style...and I'm having fun doing it!  Its the sharing part that makes me a little nervous, but that's why I started a blog in the first place...to take a step out of my comfort zone! :)
