Ok, so I have no clue what farm life is like, but I'm certain that I am way too lazy to have ever lived it! For this canvas I did built a barn in one short night though, so hows that for lazy!!! Lisa aka Feathers over at sb.com has an awesome chippie challenge provided by 3 tails craft. She was nice and sneaky this month by making the chippies a surprise...and OH BOY!!! was I surprised!? A Cow and a horse! I seriously had no clue what to do??? I thought about making cards, but I stink at making cards! Sooooo...I remembered that we had pics of the kids riding a pony at one of our friends (son's)birthday. So at least I could use the horse somehow, but what about the cow??? I racked my brain for a week trying to get some kind of an idea and I was blank, I just decided to invent my own farm scene so that I could use both chippies.
Like my bricks from previous layouts, I made the planks for the barn out of strips from an old cereal box. Here is a pic of the back of it...not looking like much of a barn but very colorful!
I embossed the black spots on the cow and the mane and tale on the horse with Tim Holts embossing powder...oh and their feet...hoofs...shoes...????
I thought that the canvas looked a little childish so I decided to make it look like I did it on purpose! I bought some mini chalkboards, again, from the wood section of Joannes. Then I had my 4 year old son write his name on it. It totally changed my feelings on the canvas...now its just kind of special! :)
The background flowers are rub ons that I doodled over. then I decided it needed more dimension so I took book pages and made teeny little flowers.

And here is my layout/Canvas (Sorry for the poor pic quality...its been cloudy and rainy all week):
I bought the fence from the holiday section at hobby lobby...a long strand about triple this size for $1.50. Usually, I find this style of fence in the wood section of joannes for almost $4. So I really got a steal of a deal!I embossed the black spots on the cow and the mane and tale on the horse with Tim Holts embossing powder...oh and their feet...hoofs...shoes...????

The pic of my son on the horse was terrible (it was takin from my iphone), but its the only one that didn't cut the horse off in some way so it was my only option!
Thank you for looking, and I hope your all having a great week!

Brilliant girl, brilliant!! Love your "planks", what a super creative way to get the effect!
oh my GOSH, girl, you have so much creative STUFF going on in that head of yours!!! ADORE THIS !!
I think this whole project is gorgeous. I can't believe you made those planks individually! What an amazing job you did on this. Seriously!
This is so cool! Love the fence and love Hobby Lobby (nearest one is about 3 hours away!) Bet your son will love this.
So amazing! Feels like I have to try this technique out asap. Must ask my little man to finish his cereals. ;)
