...I can't take a straight picture. All this time I just thought maybe my paper was so crinkled from all the distressing and misting that I do...but this project is on a hard back canvas (sure it has an actual name, but hey...I'm new to this artsy stuff) and I still had to crop inside the actual canvas a bit. This is my first attempt at doing an image transfer onto canvas. I wasn't going to show this because I now know what not to do...but I think there are a lot of people like me who can learn from my mistakes so I'm showing it anyway!!!
This is my beautiful niece Brittany! I titled it "her heart will change the world", because she has such a HUGE heart and is just overall a sweet girl with so much potential to do anything she puts her mind to!
So what I would do different...
First, I would keep the background under the picture lighter so the pic stands out more...plus, the pic needed to be much bigger I think for this canvas...since it distorts the pic a little.
Then, I would be more prepared in the design...I totally did this on a whim like I do most things, but it would look much better with more of a purpose in the background. Like, more neutral background with splashes of color.
Anyhow, I have another one I'm wanting to make soooon so hopefully I figure it all out!
Thanks for looking!

if this is a mistake, it's a pretty good one :-) but yes, learning from mistakes is the best way! love your idea and want to see more of these! x

Hi Misty! I am so impressed with this canvas...have you ever thought about submitting your work to one of the Stampington magazines, like Somerset Memories or Studio? This is the kind of artwork that I think would fit in perfectly in these magazines! I think it's awesome just the way it is, no changes or improvements necessary!
Thanks again for stopping by my blog and leaving such wonderful remarks!:-)
This is beautiful! I agree with Courtney, this should be framed and hanging somewhere! I am loving the transfer.. I haven't done anything like that before...
Thanks for stopping by and for your comment. In answer to your question, as of right now, I am not over run with stuff. I have only been couponing for a couple of months. I've been working on my pantry/laundry room for more storage, and also there is a place in my bathroom that is perfect for some built in shelves. And, I only buy things I know I will use. I am NOT like the ladies on tv who buy diapers and don't even have a baby... haha not yet anyway.
But, even if you don't stockpile, people really need to give couponing a try with their basic necessities. I want to kick myself over the money I used to spend on things.
This is so nice. I bet she loves it. You did great!
Very artistic, and I agree with Jenny, Somerset Studios would love this, worth a try.
This is amazing!!! Your artwork totally inspires me!
